The Senior Flight Instructor position for the Aviation Program at Delaware State University, serves as a full-time Senior Flight Instructor providing flight training in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations Parts 141 and 61.
Essential Functions
The following are the functions essential to performing this job.
- Perform flight instructor duties authorized by the Federal Aviation Regulations in accordance with the approved Training Course Outline, ensuring that course standards, training requirements, and objectives are met by all assigned students.
- Regularly provide instruction to each assigned student to ensure satisfactory progress through the course and immediately inform supervisor of any delays in training or satisfactory progress.
- Responsible for accurately maintaining all appropriate records to include student training record, student logbook, and computer records.
- Monitor the maintenance condition of the training aircraft, and inform DSU Chief of Maintenance of any questionable items. Filing incident reports as necessary to report any observed safety violations, or situations that may affect the safety of flight.
- Attend administrative, standardization, review boards and safety meetings as assigned.
- Assist with special projects to include but not limited to: TCO, FOM and Standardization rewrites
- Conduct tours of facilities and familiarize potential students with Delaware State University’s Aviation Program
- Attend recruiting events, communicating Aviation requirements to prospective students
