Must demonstrate the knowledge and skill to effectively teach Initial Entry Rotary Wing students in a combination of the following subjects: Theory of Rotary Wing Flight, Flight Support subjects, Navigation, Aviation Weather and Basic/Advanced Instruments. Prior to hire, applicants will be evaluated on a demonstration of proficiency class presentation made to the Academics Division Director and his representatives. Applicant must possess the FAA Advanced Ground Instructor (AGI) and Instrument Ground Instructor (IGI) Ratings prior to hire. Must have at least three years of general aviation experience. Must be fundamentally computer literate to include (but not limited to) the use of performing word processing, performing database input, accessing electronic publications, filling out electronic forms and grade sheets, and visual presentations. Once hired, the successful candidate must complete or have completed the Common Faculty Development-Instructor Course satisfactorily in the last five years. Academic classroom facilitation skills are normally taught during the CFD-IC.
Essential Responsibilities:
Instructs and plans the instructional efforts for all assigned flight related subjects within the applicable POI and Syllabus of Instruction in accordance with applicable regulations, directives, policies and procedures. Ensures the continuation of research necessary to keep all assigned subject area lesson plans and training materials current in content, format and media. Prepares, updates, administers, grades, records and critiques the examinations within the assigned instructional areas in accordance with instructions. Prepares, updates and presents all lesson plans and other instructional materials, to include computer presentations used in assigned subject areas in accordance with company and government requirements. Provides extra instruction for deficient students who request help. Attend safety and academic instructor meetings. Assures that all training materials, training aids, and equipment used within assigned instructional areas are maintained, backed-up as appropriate, current and in sufficient quantities for the most efficient use as required. Advises supervisor of needed supplies, materials, and training aids as far in advance of required dates as possible. Provides information and data for reports as requested by the supervisor. Perform all other position related duties as assigned by the director.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, Mental Demands:
Typical office environment with no unusual hazards and occasional lifting to 35 pounds. Constant sitting while using the computer terminal, ability to stand for extended periods of up to one hour and constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents. Constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness. Must possess planning/organizational skills and must be able to work within time constraints and adapt to changing technologies.
Highly Desired:
Prior experience as rotary wing or fixed wing aircraft pilot.
