Position Summary

Basic Function:

Perform powder operations and associated duties to set up and operate the equipment to ensure the products produced in accordance with customer requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure sufficient quantities of parts and materials to maintain continuous production.
  • Set up powder booths.
  • Adjust automatic powder guns to ensure proper thickness and coverage of powder to the parts.
  • Monitor and add adequate powder to hoppers to ensure proper fluidation.  Check and maintain proper functions of transfer pumps, guns, hoses and booth performance.
  • Review work orders and determine powder process to be used. 
  • Maintain and repair equipment as required, making sure all preventive maintenance occurs.      Clean equipment after use and replace worn parts when required.  Perform preventive maintenance on equipment as well as major renovations periodically.
  • Store and dispose of hazardous material in total compliance with all relevant state and federal laws.  Maintain adequate powder inventories of all powder colors, replacement parts and masking.
  • Verify that all processes are followed.
  • Work with and train all Associates to create a smooth and productive team.
  • Make sure burn off oven is maintained for proper and safe use.
  • Set up burn off area to maintain clean racking. 
  • Load and set up racking for orders to run.
  • Perform Powder Associate role as required.
  • Ensure work area and equipment are maintained in a clean, safe and orderly condition and that prescribed safety measures and procedures are followed.
  • Perform other duties as requested or required.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in powder coating/education in a related field, or previous job-related experience preferred.
  • Ability to interact with other team members in a professional manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others and be a participative team player with minimal supervision and guidance.
  • Good communication and interpersonal, skills.
  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills are required.
  • Basic working knowledge of operating computers and machinery.
  • Ability to use hand tools
  • Ability to be flexible to adapt to changing roles, priorities while handling multiple tasks.

Job Demand:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30-50lbs of materials and products. All work is performed in an indoor facility.
  • Job frequently requires standing, walking, bending, reaching, talking, hearing, lifting and carrying up to 30-50lbs.
  • Ability to see information in print and or electronically
  • Work in a manufacturing environment.
