Overview:
Amentum is seeking a Technical Manager who specializes in eDiscovery to manage a team of 12 that provides holistic, extensive Litigation Support services. The team delivers across almost all areas of the EDRM, performing forensic acquisitions, processing data to prepare it for review, populating review databases, and preparing and delivering productions. The team also provides helpdesk services to over 500 end users, triages any issues with major internal applications, manages multiple large SQL database instances, manages large enterprise-grade application deployments and upgrades, develops custom solutions, and provides technical expertise wherever required.

Responsibilities:
Manages a team responsible for various litigation support activities. This includes managing performance of Amentum and subcontractor staff, ensuring timesheet data is entered accurately and on time, coordinating staff schedules and time off, identifying additional staffing needs or growth opportunities for high performers, coordinating group activities such as team meetings and team building events, and where appropriate, ensures staff do not perform duties that are "out of class."
- Ensures adequate personnel are staffed to fulfill all throughput or volume requirements for anticipated litigation support work. Drafts job requirements and qualifications, interviews candidates and makes hiring decisions after identifying any additional staffing needs.
- Manages databases and major applications used for litigation support workflows. Maintains an understanding of the state-of-the-art technologies and practices within litigation support. Vets new technologies to identify better or more affordable solutions to the ongoing challenges presented within the industry. Interfaces with the infrastructure team to plan implementation of new technologies and manages deployment.
- Manages litigation support workflows, including but not limited to collection, storage and management of physical evidence; data management; processing, culling and standardized export of data; management of review databases; data loads to databases; image conversion; creation of productions; and creation of relevant reports across all workflows.
- Implements and enforces quality control processes for all workflows and ensures quality standards meet or exceed contract requirements, including timeliness of any deliverables.
- Ensures workflows are adequately documented and regularly demonstrated through repeatable and effective training and that they are consistently followed.
- Ensures service level agreements (SLAs) are understood and maintained and works alongside project managers to enforce them.
- Continually identifies, prioritizes, and implements improvements to workflows and automates tasks wherever practical.
- Interfaces with internal project managers, Government attorneys, external case managers and other customers to gather requirements for custom requests, to offer explanations of issues or demonstrations of solutions, or to coordinate delivery requirements for large requests.
- Manages software development initiatives for litigation support efforts. These activities include but are not limited to developing custom scripts or solutions to meet customer requirements, automating workflows, and integrating new or existing applications and solutions.
- Manages on-site facilities used for litigation support activities, such as evidence storage, computer forensics, scanning of hardcopy and copying of data. This includes activities such as ensuring needed supplies are in-stock, organized and accessible; coordinating necessary modifications to ensure appropriate access control and network connectivity; coordinating implementation of physical security measures; and arranging for any other needs necessary for effective function of the facilities.
- Manages a helpdesk that provides end-user support to users of Amentums managed web hosting solution. This includes ensuring access to shared line for fielding support calls, maintaining a ticketing system, and ensuring staff is trained on standard support etiquette and procedures for resolving and escalating issues appropriately.
Manages software and supplies purchases and renewals. This includes tracking software renewal dates and interfacing with various teams to ensure purchase requests are submitted, invoices are received and approved, and expense reports are submitted, all in an accurate and timely manner. Identifies and purchases any additional materials or supplies necessary for litigation support activities, including equipment for forensic collections.
Whenever practical, assists in triaging data related issues and performing root cause analysis of issues identified during internal application support or upgrade activities, development efforts, in performance of any workflow, or identified by the helpdesk.
Requirements:
Must be able to obtain and maintain MRPT facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for MRPT facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
Comprehensive subject matter expertise in litigation support workflows. This includes familiarity with every step of the eDiscovery Reference Model (EDRM) and the ability to craft novel solutions to any challenges presented throughout performance of our litigation support contracts.
- 8+ years of commercial litigation support experience at a Law Firm or e-Discovery service provider.
- 2+ years managing teams responsible for processing or document review workflows.
- 2+ years performing electronic file processing workflows using standard eDiscovery processing platforms such as Venio, Nuix, Law, TunnelVision, Reveal, Everlaw, Disco, etc…
- 2+ years performing web hosting loads or review workflows using standard eDiscovery review platforms such as Clearwell, Reveal, Relativity, Everlaw, Disco, etc…
- 2+ years of experience using Relativity.
- Maintains current experience with at least one scripting language or general-purpose programming language.
- Experience performing or assisting with forensic acquisitions or collections, and the techniques and considerations involved therein. Targets include physical devices, remote collections of enterprise data as well as websites and social media.
- Has experience designing and implementing proprietary software solutions.
- Has experience architecting and implementing computer infrastructure and applications, including some work with databases.
- Understands how to identify and calculate key performance metrics and how to design reports to aggregate and display information in a clear, accurate, and meaningful manner.
- Has experience working with SQL databases.
- Clearly and effectively articulates issues and solutions both in written and verbal communications.
- Writes substantive and compelling technical documentation for both proposals and training programs.
- Effectively and sensitively communicates with customers and employees about issues, successfully mitigating them while being calm and respectful.
- Other duties may be assigned/required as needed
At least one relevant industry standard certification as it pertains to mastery in any of either forensics workflows (e.g., EnCE or EnCase Certified Examiner), eDiscovery processing workflows (e.g., Venio Certified Administrator), or eDiscovery review workflows (e.g., Relativity Master, Expert or Certified Administrator). Specific certifications listed are only examples and other industry standard certifications are accepted.
Preferred qualifications:
- Relativity Certified Administrator or Relativity Infrastructure Specialist
- Bachelors degree in computer sciences or information systems technology sciences.
- Experience writing scripts and stored procedures for Microsoft SQL (T-SQL TSQL or Transact-SQL Transact SQL).
