Role Summary
The Director of Operations is responsible for driving the operational effectiveness of the Supply Chain and Operations functions, ensuring consistent achievement of Material Requirement Planning (MRP) and quality requirements within budgeted targets. This role also provides oversight of Facility Maintenance and Continuous Improvement (CI) teams. The ideal candidate is a strategic, action‑oriented leader with deep manufacturing expertise and a passion for operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Develop, implement, and monitor plans to efficiently utilize materials, labour, and equipment to meet production schedules.
- Lead and direct changes to machinery, equipment, production systems, and work methods to support divisional goals.
- Drive daily execution of production schedules and optimize asset utilization.
- Ensure operational metrics are established, monitored, and achieved.
Supply Chain & Logistics
- Manage and optimize procurement, shipping/receiving, and warehousing in alignment with the master production schedule and demand planning.
- Ensure supply chain synchronization and compliance with operational plans.
- Identify and implement best‑in‑class technology and infrastructure to support business growth.
Continuous Improvement & Quality
- Foster a culture of employee engagement and continuous improvement across all operational areas.
- Maintain effective programs for 6Sigma, training, and Total Productive (TPM) in accordance with Management Operating System (MOS) guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and quality standards (AS9100, NADCAP, ISO14001, C‑TPAT, etc.).
Facilities & Maintenance
- Oversee equipment and building maintenance plans, including corrective actions to support operational requirements.
- Recommend equipment investment plans to enhance divisional profitability.
Financial & Strategic Planning
- Establish and manage departmental budgets.
- Participate in the annual budgeting and strategic planning processes.
- Develop improvement plans to control or reduce operating costs.
- Establish annual team goals aligned with the business plan and monitor performance through Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Leadership & People Management
- Supervise Operations, Supply Chain, Facilities Maintenance, and CI teams.
- Delegate and direct work to Production Managers, Procurement Supervisor, Facilities Manager, and CI Manager.
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and leadership to enhance employee engagement and performance.
- Address second/third‑level grievances and collective bargaining issues (in a unionized environment).
Other
- Some travel may be required.
- Adhere to all corporate and divisional policies and procedures.
Education & Professional Requirements
Education
- Minimum 3‑year College Diploma or equivalent; degree in Engineering, Operations, or Business Management preferred.
Experience
- Extensive manufacturing experience in a high‑mix, low‑volume environment with shared resources across Stock Keeping Unit (SKUs).
- 5–10 years of Operations Management experience or equivalent.

Work Conditions:
- Standard hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with occasional overtime as needed.
- CSA-approved footwear, hearing protection, and eye protection are mandatory on the plant floor.
