Assembly Mechanic - Structures / Skin QualityJob Summary

We are seeking experienced Assembly Mechanics with 5+ years of skin quality, hand forming, burnishing, and repair experience to support aircraft structural and systems assembly. The ideal candidate performs precision assembly, installation, sealing, and inspection of structural components to engineering tolerances with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assemble, install, seal, rig, inspect, and complete precision structural and system components using drawings, documents, process specifications, QC requirements, and established procedures
  2. Perform functional test and correct fit, form, and function of assemblies and components
  3. Obtain required information from prints, charts, sketches, work instructions, documents, and verbal/electronic information
  4. Use shop mathematics and precision measuring/test instruments to complete work assignments and functional tests
  5. Utilize tooling in the assembly of components into sub-assemblies or end items
  6. Verify work is per work instructions and meets process/engineering specifications; identify and document discrepancies per applicable procedure
  7. Ensure equipment and tool certification occurs per procedure
  8. Perform routine minor machine maintenance as part of daily duties, including replacing filters, changing bulbs, maintaining lubrication/coolant levels per TPM duties
  9. Move product within immediate manufacturing work area using shop equipment and complete transactions to move product to next operation; on exception basis, move product to next operation within building
  10. Perform work within allotted schedules to support continuous flow of product
  11. Train and assist employees at all classification levels; assist in training other assembly personnel in assembly, installation, and inspection techniques
  12. Cross-train in inspection and become SIA qualified - Level C
  13. Perform process activities including protective coatings, metal polishing of aircraft details, isoscope, etc. to support production requirements
  14. Perform hand finishing operations - blending multiple adjacent surfaces into engineering tolerances and/or transition work to bring detail parts into compliance
  15. Perform drilling and disassembly to gain access to areas of repair
  16. Complete Assembly/Installation, Structures Sub-Assembly, and Sealer functions as required
Requirements
  • Experience: 5+ years of skin quality experience including hand forming, burnishing, and repair
  • Skills:
    • Advanced ability to blend/hand finish multiple adjacent surfaces to engineering tolerances
    • Experience with protective coatings, metal polishing, and isoscope processes on aircraft details
    • Proficient in drilling, disassembly, and structural repair access
    • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions
    • Strong shop math skills and experience with precision measuring instruments
    • SIA qualification Level C or ability to obtain through cross-training
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand and work for entire 8-hour shift
  • Availability:
    • Primary shift: 2nd shift
    • Must be available for any shift, overtime, and weekends as needed
    • Must be able to start within 2 weeks after offer acceptance
  • Other:
    • No A&P license required
    • No personal tools required
    • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
    • Must pass background check, drug test, and employment verification
Work Environment

Manufacturing/production floor in an aerospace environment. Exposure to noise, machinery, sealants, and metal finishing processes. Required PPE must be worn. Strict adherence to OSHA, quality, and safety procedures.
