Summary:
Perform safe and accurate assembly/fitting of detail parts and structures, including sheet metal layout, fabrication, and installation.
Rivet structural assemblies using appropriate tools (e.g., riveting guns, drills, countersinks, rivet shavers, files, reamers); safely remove fasteners without damaging structures.
Interpret work orders, blueprints, lofts, sketches, and operation sheets to determine sequence, hole patterns, and fabrication steps; follow procedures when using adhesives, sealants, and solvents.
Check all work to ensure defect-free assembly prior to final inspection.
Maintain accurate logs and records (e.g., MIR sheets, DMTs, Crabs, PCOs).
Align and assemble parts using jigs, fixtures, pins, clamps, and fasteners; form complex angles and configurations per specifications.
Complete repairs per DMTs, MRRs, and PCOs; perform necessary rework to ensure conformity.
Maintain a clean and organized work area; support 5S initiatives and follow all safety protocols.
Properly collect and dispose of waste materials (fuel, oil, hydraulic fluids, solvents, rags, etc.).
Ensure accurate time-charging of tasks to the aircraft.
Exchange job-related information across shifts via turnover reports and direct communication.
Assist in maintaining shop equipment and related Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
Support Lean initiatives and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED required
2 years of related structural assembly experience
Experience with Solumina and SmarTeam preferred
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and basic technical documents
Basic computer and shop math skills
Ability to read scales and perform measurements accurately
Strong attention to detail, professional attitude, and ability to work in a team-oriented, schedule-driven environment
Good housekeeping and safety practices required
Experience with composite materials and resins preferred
Must be able to work any shift
Must be able to climb ladders, stands, and stairs; work in confined/restricted areas; and lift up to 50 lbs
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
Must be a U.S. Citizen (as defined by ITAR).
